Ever taken too many happy pills and wondered what it’s like to be trapped inside a still life painting?
Well, that’s exactly how Dennis Severs wants you to feel when you enter his Georgian terraced house in Spitalfields. Half eaten loaves of bread and perfectly balanced butter knives were choice subjects for the Dutch old masters. At Dennis' house, they appear right in front of you. You can even smell them. There are gaps in the banisters where Dennis used them for firewood when he was skint. Unmade beds just as he left them. Tracey Emin would love this place.
And the only rule to follow during this experience? Silence. Not a peep. Otherwise Severs’ ghost will misbehave. Severs, described by his artist friends as humorous, unpretentious, passionate and engagingly camp, once referred to himself as somewhere between “exceptional” and "mentally retarded." We love him already.
This event is for Members Only (30 Places).
