Love Art London is giving you exclusive access to 2 Willow Road, home of the modernist architect, Erno Goldfinger. Not only responsible for redesigning social housing post WW2 (think Trellick Tower, Balfron Tower and Carradale House in London), he also lent his name to Ian Fleming’s infamous Bond villain. We kid you not.
Goldfinger designed his own house, 2 Willow Road, in 1938 and it is a perfectly preserved testament to his modernist vision. Stuffed full of artworks by the likes of Henry Moore and Bridget Riley along with many other personal curiosities, it’s a hidden treasure telling the most personal of stories.
Look out for Trellick Tower next time you’re powering down the Westway. It’s not just any old council tower block, it’s a Grade II listed building and a masterpiece of modernist architecture.
