Hannah Barry

Gareth Cadwallader is the hottest young hyper-realist painter on Charles Saatchi’s Christmas card list. His painstakingly detailed paintings are so precise you’d be forgiven for thinking they were photographs. Which leads to the question he’s most often asked, “if you’re so concerned with detail why not just take photographs?” So, like all great artists Cadwallader has taken this question by the scruff of the neck, wrestled it to the ground and in a fit of creative rage made it beg for its life.

In his exciting new solo show, the first since his appearance in Newspeak II at Saatchi Gallery, Cadwallader’s traded his brush for a camera and produced a series of whopping photographs. And as they say in Macdonald’s, he’s gone supersize. Like, billboard size. Gallery director Hannah Barry will be joining the artist Saatchi’s tipping for the top to talk about painting, photography and anger management.

This event is for Members Only (25 places)
