Heidi Locher, renowned architect and founding partner of firm Paxton Locher, has designed some of the hottest property in London for a distinguished list of private clients as well as some much-loved public buildings like Soho Theatre and the Jerwood Space in Southwark. Not just an architect however, Heidi is also a gifted painter too. In her own words, her paintings “hold recurring themes of sex, violence, obsession, fantasy, and the nuance of gesture. At the heart lie buried memories, deep neurotic emotions, and the locus of pain – that sensuous truth. Using the paint like a skin, flesh and blood, the experience should be like making love - basic, visceral, real life.” Wow. Heidi has invited a small gaggle of Love Art Londoners to her beautiful private studio in Primrose Hill, which she designed herself obviously, to learn about her architectural and artistic practices which overlap more than you may expect. Heidi will also be discussing her forthcoming exhibition ‘Hotel Kalofornia’ which shows at Londonewcastle Project Space in Shoreditch in November. Outstanding.
