As Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.’ Now we're not suggesting Susan Stockwell is going to feed the 5000, but the concept of waste is certainly a big deal for this ground-breaking artist.
On a recent visit to Susan's studio, Love Art London found mountains of discarded computer chips, the contents of a tyre factory and hundreds of industrial-sized bog rolls. By transforming and recycling these disposable materials into beautiful, provocative works of art, Susan's work could not be more relevant in today's fast changing world. It's thought-provoking stuff.
For one night only, Susan is inviting us into her private studio for an amazing show and tell. We’ll be talking about her exciting current work and finding out what it’s like being the V&A’s favourite quilt-maker.
