The most AWESOME Love Art London gig ever? YUP. We can hardly even believe it's happening - it’s like all our Christmases & Birthdays have come at once in a glorious downpour. No pun intended. The Rain Room at The Barbican is without doubt one of the most remarkable installations we have ever seen. In case the title of the piece is unclear, rAndom International (the artist collective responsible for this masterpiece) have transformed the gallery into an enormous raining room, which is in a constant state of deluge. The artists then lay down the gauntlet and invite the viewer to step into The Rain Room. But why on EARTH would anyone in their right mind do that unless they happen to have a dry change of clothes, right? Well, herein lies the magic. Upon entering The Rain Room, the viewer stays dry as a bone. That’s right, totally moisture free. We’re busting into The Barbican with the three founding members of rAndom International, Florian Ortkrass , Hannes Koch & Stuart Wood for a late night tour (once the public leave at 8pm, we have free rein) of this incredible show which took 4 long and extremely challenging years of experimentation with water, injection moulded tiles, solenoid valves, pressure regulators, custom software, 3D tracking cameras, steel beams, water management system and a grated floor. Experiencing The Rain Room, in private, with the artists who made it, should be on EVERYONE’S bucket list. Hands down EPIC.
