Overview: A private audience with Tracey Curtis Taylor, Britain's most-celebrated female aviator and adventurer, who'll be telling the truly incredible story her most epic adventure to date – a solo flight from England to Australia in a vintage biplane following the exact route of the early pioneer aviator Amy Johnson who made the same journey in 1930.
Background: Tracy's truly extraordinary 50-leg challenge, which led her across 23 countries, has been hailed a triumph and a valuable exercise in raising awareness of science, aviation and technology amongst young women across the world. Tracey first hit the headlines in 2013 when she flew her 1942 Boeing-Stearman biplane Spirit of Artemis from Cape Town to Goodwood in an epic 13,000km journey comprising a total of 38 legs and 110 flying hours. Tracey’s journey, which took 5 years of preparation, retraced the route from Cape Town to Cairo flown by the pioneering female aviator Mary, Lady Heath in 1928. The daring expedition covered some of the most beautiful and dangerous parts of the world today including Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Sudan – the only leg of Lady Heath’s journey which could not be recreated was the section across Libya which could not be completed for security reasons. This successful expedition earned Tracey the prestigious Light Aircraft Association’s Bill Woodmans Trophy for her extraordinary “feat of navigation, aviation, tenacity and endurance” and was the stepping stone to her solo flight from England to Australia.
